A fair, safe and youth-led journey

Team eligibility

• Youth participants must be in Grades 6–12.
• Each team must include 5–8 youth members.
• Each team must have one team advisor who is the adult responsible for the team's progress, safety, and wellbeing.
• The team advisor must submit a PDF police check report and their receipt during Cycle 1. GRFS will cover the cost and provide a volunteer letter so the advisor can qualify for the volunteer price.
• Registration details and the project proposal must be approved by GRFS before portal access is issued.

Youth-led community projects

• Projects must respond to a genuine community need and be led meaningfully by youth.
• Projects that require professional credentials, specialized intervention, or direct work in situations requiring trained professionals are not eligible for delivery by underage youth.
• Activities must be lawful, safe, respectful and inclusive.
• Teams must follow team advisor guidance, safety requirements and any instructions provided by GRFS.

Forms, consent and privacy

• Every required built-in form must be completed accurately.
• Each youth member must complete the combined waiver and consent requirement in Cycle 1.
• Mandatory photo and video consent must be confirmed by every participant.

Cycle approval

At the end of each cycle, the team submits its completed work to GRFS. The cycle is locked during review, but the team may unsubmit it before a decision to make edits. GRFS may approve the cycle and unlock the next one, or return it with an information message explaining what must change.

Recognition and conduct

Participation, volunteer-hour recognition and awards depend on accurate submissions, respectful conduct and completion of program requirements. GRFS may address exceptional circumstances to protect fairness and participant wellbeing.
